Your Foundation at Work – in The Philippines

The Rotary Foundation has approved our Avoidable Blindness project that is called “Bright Eyes for a Brighter Future.” The project will provide Illuminated Snellen Charts to the 42 schools in Tanauan City, The Philippines.

All the teachers in their public schools have received training on how to check their student’s visual acuity, how to evaluate visual problems, and how to make the necessary referrals when appropriate.

Every school has agreed to test every student’s vision every year. Local Rotarians will work closely with the schools to make sure that the equipment is properly maintained and that the project is being implemented.

This is a project that was developed by District Governors Mike Lirio from District 3820 and David Gallagher from District 5220 and was funded by their clubs, their Districts, and The Rotary Foundation.
