Get Windows Media PlayerAt the 1933 Rotary convention in Boston, both RI President Emeritus Paul Harris, and RI Secretary Chesley Perry (1910-1942) spoke on the radio.  Hear the seven minute speech complete on MP3. This file is 4.4 MB and takes approximately 25 seconds to download. The same file could take up to a half-hour to download on a dial-up line. It is worth it, but be forewarned about the time. The animated video version was created by District 5220's own Don Kemplen of Modesto East Rotary. That file is just over 15 MB

Ches Perry was one of the members of the Rotary Club of Chicago. He was appointed to deal with extension, because the rest of the members thought he could put a stop to Paul Harris foolish idea of expanding Rotary globally. While Paul Harris is known as the Founder of Rotary, Ches Perry is known as the man who built Rotary. Ches speaks for about thirty seconds in this clip, introducing Paul Harris, who fills the balance of the seven minute run time. This same pair appeared in 1939 in a televised speech that allowed Rotarians in multiple locations to participate simultaneously.
