PROJECT 100

In celebration of 100 years of Rotary service District 5220 has created Project 100. To ensure Rotary is successful for the next 100 years, we need to nurture our youth so that they are healthy, educated, and globally aware adults with the desire to continue making a positive difference.

Project 100 is asking each club to collect 100 of at least one chosen item, which will be distributed, to the abandoned & orphaned children of our world.  We will accomplish this distribution through our on-going projects and connections with the following sites:

  • Agape Boys Home in Kisumu, Kenya

  • Temak Home for Teenage Mothers & Orphans – Kisumu, Kenya

  • Caminul Felix I & II – Bihor, Romania

  • Amor y Vida, Honduras

This is an excellent opportunity for your club to participate in a District Wide International Service Project.  If every club in the district collects 100 items we will have over 5000 items for shipping.  Through our joint efforts, you will have effectively improved the lives of children on 3 different continents and at 5 different facilities.

All items will be collected by Kelly McNulty-Adjetey prior to our Rotary District Conference in Monterey, CA on April 30 - May 1st, 2005.  Contact information for Kelly is available in the Members Only section of this website. We will have a breakout session on Saturday to allow all Rotarians to be involved hands-on with the sorting & packing of our collected goods.  It will be a beneficial, fun event full of goodwill, friendship, and celebration.

Attached is a list of ideas and suggested items for collection.  Please contact me prior to starting your collection efforts to eliminate the possibility of too much duplication.  We would like the generosity of our clubs to show in the diversity of our donations.

I am so excited to be sharing this fabulous opportunity with you.  Please get your club members enthused about this very worthwhile event, so think BIG.  If you need help in that direction…give me a call and I will gladly arrange a presentation on the project and it’s benefactors.  Feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns or ideas.  We are always open to suggestions and volunteers.

Yours in Rotary Service,
Kelly A. McNulty-Adjetey
