FIELDS OF HOPE

Modesto Sunrise Rotary is starting a new project collecting old and used sporting equipment for underprivileged youth locally and on projects internationally.

Currently they are working with a school in Chile that has 35 underprivileged children that attend daily. The children come from homes and families destroyed by drugs and alcohol, and many  are abused and neglected.

The Chilean school recently received one baseball glove and one baseball and the children were ecstatic.

The project calls for collecting enough sporting equipment (Gloves, balls, hats, bats, pads and soccer balls) to send in a suitcase with people going there on a mission trip, so there will be enough equipment to play a game.

Here, parents have some sports equipment that has been outgrown and discarded by their children.. Most of the time this equipment is still in good working condition. Typically American’s don’t like to throw stuff away, especially if it still works.

If you have equipment to donate please contact webmaster@rotary5220.org for referral to the Project Chairman, Chris Currie. He can arrange to have the equipment picked up.

Chris asks that you please think about who might have this old equipment to donate including neighbors, friends, family, etc and ask them.

Comments and questions may be addressed to webmaster@rotary5220.org. We hope you enjoy your visit.
