Richard Wyatt joined the Madera Rotary Club in 1993 and has participated actively in as many of its projects as possible ever since.  Dick has served on the Club’s Board of Directors and was Club President in 1999-2000.  He has received a Four Avenues of Service Citation.

Dick has taken an interest in District activities.  He served as a member of the District Sergeants-At-Arms and was an Assistant District Governor in 2001-2002.  He has helped as District Extension Chair and as Extension Resource Person for the Membership Committee.

Dick was born in Laramie, Wyoming in 1940.  As a boy he lived in Wyoming, South Dakota and Colorado.  He graduated from the Colorado School of Mines in 1961 with a degree in Geophysical Engineering.  Not wishing to ever deal with snow again on a daily basis, he moved to Los Angeles.  Dick did graduate studies at Stanford University and was awarded a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1966.  In 1990, he received a Master of Arts degree in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary.

He is a professional Civil Engineer and has over 40 years experience in the field.  He has worked in heavy construction, county government and is presently with the engineering firm of Giersch and Associates in Madera.  It has been a truly fascinating career.

Dick married Martha Sleeper of Menlo Park in 1963.  Marty is an honorary member of the Madera Rotary Club and helps with their projects.  She loves to quilt, is active in PEO and is very involved in church activities.  Marty graduated from San Jose State in 1961 with a degree in Occupational Therapy.  The Wyatts have two children.  Eric, the oldest, is a superior court judge in Madera and he and Kris are the proud parents of two boys.  Keith lives in Davis and works at a skydiving center.

“We’ll get the job done by doing good and having fun.”
